Our Mission

Mainline publishes software-development writing for people who write code. Not “10 languages to learn in 2026” listicles, not press-release reprints — practical, opinionated, vendor-neutral coverage of the tools and practices developers actually use. If an article doesn’t change how you work or what you reach for, we didn’t do our job.

What We Cover

Developer Tools — IDEs, editors, extensions, CLIs, and AI coding assistants, evaluated for real workflows rather than feature-checklists.

Code Management — Code reuse, snippet management, version control, and keeping large codebases organized and searchable.

Software Engineering — Design patterns, testing, code review, refactoring, and the day-to-day practice of building maintainable systems.

Languages & Frameworks — Deep-dives, migration guides, and honest ecosystem comparisons.

DevOps & Workflow — CI/CD, build systems, containers, and the local-to-production path that ships code.

Developer Craft — Productivity, documentation, team practice, and the career side of engineering.

About the Editorial Team

We attribute work to the publication rather than to individuals because the site is a long-term editorial reference, not a personal-byline blog. The editorial team writes from hands-on experience and cites primary sources — official documentation, language specifications, RFCs, and maintainer posts — for load-bearing claims.

Our Editorial Approach

We are vendor-neutral. We do not accept payment for coverage and we do not run vendor-supplied editorial. When we cover a tool category, we present multiple options and their trade-offs. Every code sample is written to be correct and runnable as shown for the version stated.
